Do you need a cluster fly treatment? Cluster flies are a pest most commonly found in lofts in rural locations. During the summer months they are rarely noticed as they are feeding outdoors, but come the colder weather in autumn they seek shelter in buildings and can gather in very large numbers for the winter. They seek shelter in roof voids most commonly but can often be found in upstairs rooms gathering at the windows. At the end of winter, they will become active again during the warmer spring days and can once again be a nuisance in homes.
Before a treatment is carried out we carry out a survey to assess the areas to be treated. A treatment consists of a ULV (Ultra Low Volume) treatment which is a very fine insecticidal fogging mist which penetrates into all of the nooks and crannies the flies are harbouring in. This is the most effective treatment available and far more effective than a normal fogging treatment. Because of the very small droplet size with a ULV machine the insecticide hovers for up to an hour before settling and is carried by air currents much more effectively. The Cluster Flies will become very active once exposed to the insecticide and will die within minutes.
It is very difficult to completely proof a building against cluster flies entering. Some flies may enter through windows on older properties and we can spray window frames to kill any entering via that route. Air vents can be protected with fly mesh. Many homes have a Cluster fly problem every year and a treatment will destroy any current generation of flies.
If you have a Cluster fly problem call Best4Pests for a quote. We charge a fixed price to cover most domestic properties. Larger commercial properties will take longer to treat, require more insecticide and will be priced on the volume to be treated.
